My Creative Space

Creative Thursday

Today I attended a felting course held at The Red Shed, Yungaburra.  QLD.     Our lovely teacher was Sangit Tafelmaier
It was a fantastic day and we all really enjoyed ourselves.

First we did a practice swatch to get the feel of wool and see how the felting process works

then we got to choose our own colours!!

How to choose???

and then we got to felt something out of our own imagination.....such great work and lovely ideas that everyone had!   It was great to see all the variety but I have just included my own,

isn't it amazing how wool, water, soap and a little elbow grease and careful handling can create something of such beauty.......I LOVE wool   :-)

I am wearing my scarf in the photo but in reality it is outside on the table being blocked and dried,  can't wait to wear it for real!!!    Thank you Sangit for such a wonderful day, looking forward to your next workshop.  :-)

thats my creative space if you want to check out more then check out

  1. What a fabulous day! Your finished piece looks wonderful.

  2. Isn't felting fun!? A bit like magic, but also ahrd work. Have fun with your scarf!

  3. Fascinating. Also, your photo of you wearing your lovely new make answers a question I was going to ask re felted hair......... I have an interest in this since I have a dreadlocked son! I hadn't heard the term "felted" with relation to hair. (I've lead a sheltered life........ :O))))))))

  4. it is amazing and your scarf looks great ... i keep seeing felting everywhere now ... even knitting things and then felting out of them. i'm going to have to try it myself.

  5. That looks fantastic! I love all the progress shots too. How brilliant to walk away from a course with something new to wear and enjoy.

  6. Your scarf looks great! I love the color scheme you chose. I love felting, but I'm mainly a needle felter. I gave wet felting a try a couple of times already, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I guess it's the lack of control, that makes it difficult for me... and the lack of working space. There's one thing I definitely want to give a try, though, and that's Nuno felting. Now, if only I would be able to find a class teaching that around here...

Thanks for visiting my space and leaving a makes my day :-)
