Before

 Were you always Crafty?

I had a very crafty mother who was always doing something and I find that I am now the same.  I can remember she screen printed a picture I drew when I was about 4, and I still have the screen print.  From there she went on to batik, tie dying, macrame, lino printing, copper engraving, copper enameling plus lots more. She now does absolutely lovely etchings and her drawings are beautiful!   She always was handy with the sewing machine, making us clothes and things.  I guess I just learned thru osmosis?   :-)

I have always enjoyed making things but never considered myself that good (still a perfectionist and my own worst critic) I had a break during my twenties and thirty's and picked up doing things crafty when I was doing a job that involved a lot of night shifts so I had time to do stuff.  I did a lot of embroidery, cross stitch, and making (sewing) accessories for my home, and then I got my own horse!  That took over until I had a nasty accident.  I lost all my confidence,  especially around horses.

Somewhere amongst the chaos I discovered Julie and her Blog  Little Cotton Rabbits.  My boys had asked for a knitted  Super Bunny, having seen a lovely one in a magazine, and I thought I can do that and went searching for inspiration.  Julie came to the rescue.  I loved her little rabbits and her refreshingly happy blog about her Creativity and her garden.  Julie inspired me to start knitting again and things have just grown from there.  I made a Bunny for the boys....

Then we had lots of birthdays, and finally My Bunny....

This is 'Joy', she was made to celebrate my return to creativity!  She has a tiny little Bunny, 'It',  safely put away inside her suitcase to remind me not to take too much notice of that  'Little Voice'   I had enjoyed making the little bunnies so much and one project led to another and to another until finally I have my own creative space and some shop space in a friends commercial shed in town.

I was a regular visitor to Julie's  Blog and her wonderful  Etsy Shop ( you have to check it out, she has the most adorable Rabbits)  Which led onto many more fantastically creative people and their Blogs.  Then I started my own Blog.... And the rest as they say is History....

Megan  posted this question, want to find out more?  Check out her Blog here :-)

WOO HOO....

It's arrived....

My pin cushion that is!

Isn't he adorable!  Hasn't Trudi  at Me & Ewe done a spectacular job!  Look at that lovely coloured wool she dyed herself and that beautiful stitching....  He is Heaven!  Love the play on the name as well Trudi, no wonder you were paired with me  ;-)

He has made himself right at home and even had the cheek to 'Glare' at me when I showed him the pins and told him he was a Pin- Cushion....

What is his problem? ....

OH.... it seems he has fallen in Love!

How Sweet!!

What's this?

We seem to be multiplying!! ....

SHHHHH....Better not tell my husband Billy, we already have way to many animals in this house!

Thank you  Kate   for organizing such a fun swap, I have loved seeing how creative everyone is and all the lovely pin cushions.

PS  does any one have a spare....mine just  gave me that 'don't mess with me'  look  again!  ;-)

My Creative Space

Thursday....

Today I am getting creative with some of this....

And trying to sort it all out into some of these....

Sometimes we have to forgo the luxury of getting creative and clear a little space....

I did however finish my entry to the  Alice Springs Beanie Festival....

I am entering into the category of :

The Champion  LOVE.  (Make a beanie that expresses your love) -  showing my love of  crochet and granny
squares.

I had also started a shawl with a small twisted stitch incorporated into the pattern, using some yummy wool from my stash....

However I misread the pattern which caused a twist in the wrong place.  I tried to 'Tink' (Knit backwards)  back past the problem but that wasn't working so I had to....

Frog It (Ripit)....Bugger!  Now its waiting for some time to 'do over'.

The ( extended ) Family

Feline

I thought it was about time I introduced the  'extended family'.  I will start with the fur-babies who live inside the house and later we will progress to the larger members of the menagerie....

First a bit of history.  I have been animal mad for as long as I can remember and my family has gallantly put up with all of my Ooooohhhs and Aaaaaahhhhs at every animal I saw as I was growing up.

I always wanted to live on a farm and have lots of pets,  but as a city girl I contented myself with the family cat and eventually became a Veterinary Nurse.

Cats have a special place in my heart and I have for as long as I can remember always had one sleeping on my bed,  it's a comfort thing now  (when I was little it was to warn me of the bogie men)  plus they make a great hot water bottle in  winter....

This is 'Minnow', she is number 1 fur-baby.  She is almost 13 now.   She predates the boys so that is why she is called a fur-baby....

She likes to sleep a lot now, in between  wandering down to the stables to say hello to the horses or lying on the front lawn watching the chickens.   She lives out on the front porch because she has become incontinent at night.  Poor Minnie, she does have a nice snug cat igloo on the chair so she is happy and warm at night.

Number 2 fur-baby is 'Hamish'.   He is a bit of a dude....more often than not he is known as  'Hamish Monster!!'....

He likes hanging around....

Sleeping (or lying in ambush...he is also known as the hairy Crocodile)  in boxes....

I found these two pictures that the boys had taken, looks like Hamish is about to get agro....

teasing the dogs  (because he knows they can't come in)....

Making a mess.... looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth doesn't he?

But do you know why we call him a Dude??

He is not allowed outside at all  (we are protecting the wildlife)  so we have taught him....

Yep....he uses the toilet!

Now you have all had a good look.... Please Can you Shut The Door!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend  :-)

Fabulous Felt....

Isn't this a fun video, love the Llama  :-)

Today I made some felt....

Not quite the same way as above but there was a lot of water and soap and friction,  no tuck shoparms/bingo wings for me....there was lots of  friction, friction, friction....and more friction!  Then just when I thought I could take no more, and was wondering if my  'blessing'  had been more of a want than a need?? .... we had FELT!

I made just enough for three of these....

Then I am going to use some of this....

and some of these....

but will have to wait for another crafty moment to put it all together....  its on my WIP list :-)

Don't forget to check out Kootoyoo  for more Creative Spaces  :-)

Happy Easter

This is 'Ned'

He is a Labrador who belongs to a friend of mine and I Dog-Sit both him and his lady friend 'Candy', a Kelpie, everytime she goes away.  They love coming to our house and have a great holidayThey love my Jack Russell Terriers x (3)  who in return adore them.  We have lovely walks in the forest and runs behind the 4 wheeler bike and there is always so much to watch with all the other animals I have living here :-)

Gez asked me to knit her both a Ned and a Candy!  A challenge and I am always up for a challenge....Luckily Gez has been very patient as it has taken me a while......

                           'Ned'

.....can't find a photo of  'Candy'  will have to remedy that and post later (She was cute too!).....

Did you notice the lovely box of choccies that came to me for Easter?  Isn't my hubby a darling he knows they are my favourite  :-)

Hope you all have a lovely Easter Break and stay safe and well....

This is a short clip the boys took from the back of the 4 wheeler when we were exercising the dogs one day, not the best quality but I think they did a champion job.  Candy is the brown dog near the bike and poor Ned you can just see coming in last (he is a tad overweight and unfit).   Enjoy   xx
