Really Big Granny

Wow....

I have been like a kid in a lollie shop with all the inspiration around at the moment in blogland for Large Chunky Grannies....

Meet Me At Mikes  - Mega Doily

Kootoyoo  - Granny Shrug

Sarah London  -  Crochet Rug

I have started a Granny Shrug....

Unfortunately I forgot that I had used the other balls of my green Patons 'Wilderness' for a tea cosie so I have been stopped in my tracks until my parcel from Spotlight arrives in the post.

While I am waiting for the mail I thought I would experiment with something larger as I loved the Granny Rug made by Dana Barnes that Sarah London  showed us....

So what do you think?

Hubby had a long coil of rope in the garage and I thought why not!   I needed something to get an idea of the amount I would need if I was going to go Large.

I loved the Mega Doily that Pip   showed us.   NOW  I just need to find a supplier of cotton rope!

What do you think?   Would anyone buy one??

Happy Hooking to everyone following along with Kirsty's   Granny Shrug,  can't wait to see all the FO on  Flickr .

Now for all of you puppy followers....

I know, Too Cute !   :-)

My Creative space

Thursday

This week has been a whirlwind of feeding dogs and puppies....

They certainly look fat and happy don't they, at least they are getting some sleep!

Something tells me by these photos I took this morning that winter is going to be a cold one....

I could only just make out the horses in the mist today....

And finally, remember "  Ned"   the Labrador I made for my friend Gez?  Well here is the other half of the duo "Candy" .
She is a Kelpie and we have great fun taking her for a run behind the 4 wheeler motorbike....  Kelpie's are active!

I haven't been very creative but many others have, so pop over to Kirsty's   for a look   :-)

Hyper what??

Hyperbolic crochet....

I found this a little while ago and unfortunately I was too late to join in the reef exhibitions.  I did however make my Mum a Hyperbolic wash cloth from some lovely organic cotton for X-mas.   (sorry no photo I was rushing as usual!)

Such fun and so much nicer than the plastic ones!!

This lecture by  Margaret Wertheim is well worth taking the time to listen to.  She describes Hyperbolic maths and how the coral reef project came about.

Now if you want to try it out for yourself give this one a look....

Grab a crochet hook and let your imagination and creativity run wild   :-)

Petal is a star

 Be warned!

Today's post will tug at your heart strings....

Daisy has abandoned her puppies!

She never was a good mother.   She would feed them and then want to go back outside with her mates and leave them to fend for themselves which is OK if they are fat healthy pups, and I usually have 'Aunty Petal' to take over the minding when Daisy goes walkabout.

This time she abandoned them a lot earlier and they are too little to keep themselves warm....

                   So....

I have given them to Petal ( who so loves being a mum )....

Good Golly Miss Molly!   Petal is a STAR!!

Petal had 7 pups of her own and I have given her 6 of Daisy's ( we lost two overnight...so sad but they got too cold and weak )

SO PETAL IS LOOKING AFTER 13 PUPPIES!!!!!

I have stocked up with supplies of bottles, teats and puppy formula and I will have to give Petal a hand.  I have a volunteer waiting in the wings to take over the bottle feeding but for the moment we shall let Petal help as she is better than I am at washing, cleaning them and  toileting them.

My craft is temporarily on hold as I am a sleep deprived mum again and who knows what mistakes I will make and have to rip out!    ;-)

Very Cute puppy photos in a later post.

You Little Beauty

Time for my dogs to make their debute....

Daisy and Russell, have you ever tried to take photos of excitable moving dogs??  Cute pair aren't they....

This is Russell, the handsome chap, a rough coat Jack Russell Terrier....(Blame my husband for his name, although I have to admit it really suits him).

Yesterday they became  proud parents of 8 (thats right 8!!) baby Jack Russell Terriers....

Does she look worried?  I would!   8  WOW.  I am going to have to help feed this lot as Daisy had milk fever last time even though she received adequate calcium supplements.  She wasn't supposed to get pregnant this time but she was early and caught me by surprise....obviously Russell wasn't caught by surprise!

We have another Jack Russell girl.  Her name is Petal.  She is actually a Jack Russell cross Mini Fox Terrier so she is small and smooth coated and very, very bouncy!

She also came into season at the same time as Daisy and she is also pregnant....

We sure know that Russell isn't a Dud!   Petal is due is another few days.

We left the doggie mayhem behind this morning and the boys had their weekly hockey game, so cool, and yes they won so celebrations at Macca's with the rest of the Tableland sportstars....

Its supposed to be sunny tomorrow so I am hoping to get in a bit of horse riding,   hope you have a fun weekend too!   :-)

Happy Day

Happy Mother's Day

Totally spoiled I was....

A Lovely tea set with my favorite flowers and an adorable little bird from my hubby....

Beautiful new PJ's from my lovely boys, I could live in these!

This is 'Daisy'.  She is my Jack Russell Terrier but I suspect that somewhere down her bloodlines there seems to have been a poodle snuck in as she is rather shaggy for a JRT....

I  thought I had better get the maternity ward ready today for 'Daisy' as she is rather large and she was looking really uncomfortable this morning.   Maybe she is going to have a mothers day present as well?....

She is not actually due for another week but I don't think she is going to go that long?  She seems happy enough to rest today....

I hope all you lovely mothers out there have as lovely a day as I am having....   :-)

I'm an Ambassador

Isn't this a fun and cool idea

   A Knitted Collar....

Loani Prior, The Grand Purl Baa  has just launched her second wonderful book   " Really Wild Tea Cosies"
This follows her first, " Wild Tea Cosies"  if you haven't seen these books you must check them out, they are full of fabulous ideas and lovely photos of awesome tea cosies!

There are events and book launches all over Southern Queensland and NSW.  Check out her Blog  for information on what and where....

Grand Purl Baa has launched the idea of the Knitted Collar and is calling for Ambassadors.  I love the idea!  I had to make one for myself and become an Ambassador, who wouldn't want to be an Ambassador??

It is easy really and there is a tutorial here .  So get cracking ladies, pick up the sticks....

What fun....   I was warm and toasty all day today, just like wearing a scarf but much easier  :-)    Hope you had a great weekend  xx
