Favourite Things Friday

Its Friday Linky day....

This week after dusting I realised that one of my favourite things that I look at every day rarely gets shown to anyone else!  Favourite Things Friday is the perfect opportunity to show off these items that are a treasure of mine....

This gorgeous set belonged to my Grandma.  It sat on her dressing table and when I stayed I watched her use it every morning and every night.  It reminds me so much of her.

And it is Cherry Blossoms which are another of my favourite things   :-)

Pop over to Mrs P's and see what other's favourite things are.

  1. I had a set of mirror and brushes that came from my grandmother's house too - and they were shaped much like, but not with the beautiful cherry blossoms. They had belonged to my aunt when she was young. I don't know why I ended up with them, because she's still alive. But I got them when my grandmother died. Years ago, when my Gin lived (amazingly) in the town where my father'd grown up, she got to know his side of the family well, and became friends with her second cousin, the oldest daughter of one of the sons of my aunt. So it finally struck me - and I packed up those things and wrote a letter about how I remembered seeing them on the dressing table when I was little, and I sent them off to Hillary, because they actually had belonged to HER grandmother.

Interesting how powerful small things handed down can be.

  5. It`s so heartening to see all you lovely ladies making tributes to your darling Grandmothers. I really hope my little one feels the same about me when I`ve gone to Nana Heaven (with any luck I`ll be floating upwards with the angels, as opposed to spending my afterlife in Dante`s Inferno!lol)Have a great weekend, Jenni. xxx

  7. I love this, Jenni! Your set is in beautiful shape - you must have been gentle with it when you were younger.

So meaningful that you have something of your grandmother's - and that you see it every day!

  9. That set is so pretty. Im so pleased you love it and look at it every day . The cherry blossoms are beautiful and I'm sure you think of your grandmother often when you look at it.

One of the things I really miss about having a family that chucks things out at the drop of a hat is that Im sure at some point someone in my family has owned something like this and it's been tossed!

  10. Jenni, they are really pretty, I love the cherry blossoms. It's always nice to have something that you can remember from a very loved relative. I'm lucky to have a few pieces of my grandmother's to remember her by.
