The Lionheart Project

How  is this for an Olympic sized project!

Three giant woolly lions created by Leicestershire artist Shauna Richardson have been put on display at Chatsworth House.

The giant beasts have been created by Shauna, of Stoughton, to help spur the Olympic athletes and The Lionheart Project sculptures will be on public display in their 52ft-long (16-metre) illuminated glass case at Chatsworth in front of the Bastion Wall until June 10, when they embark on a tour of the East Midlands before arriving at the Natural History Museum in London in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

You can read all about Shauna's work here

What an amazing achievement!

International Yarnbombing Day 2012

Hooray the day finally arrived and I was able to drive into town in the wee hours of June 9th and install my Yarnbombing creation.  Nan and her cousin joined me for the company and to bail me out if I was caught (so Billy says!).  It was a bit cold but not too bad and there was no one around, we just hoped the local police didn't decide to do a drive thru town whilst we/I was busy installing my creation.

Getting ready....

Checking that I have all the necessary gear....

It was coldish and dark....

Nan, bless her couldn't help herself and came along for the fun....

All Done!

This is what I yarnbombed. I chose the Town Clock which is right at the start of the main street so it should get a bit of exposure and hopefully brighten up someones Saturday shopping day.

In the daylight....

After I showed the boys what I had been up to in the dark we went to Yungaburra where I added a piece to my ongoing yarnbombing project....

And then joined some friends from my Spinning and Weaving group 'The Coffee Drop Crafters' and we yarnbombed the shelter at Lake Eacham where we have our fortnightly meetings.

Shelley's fabulous creation....

Myself, Robin and Ula contributed to this one....

Robin, myself and Shelley....

So all in all it was a great day and we all had a lot of fun.  I am sure if you google International Yarnbombing Day you will see lots of pictures of more yarny goodness from all around the world. Here is the link to the Facebook page. Lots of lovely folk spreading the love of fibre and the joy of creating.

Will I do it again next year....ABSOLUTELY!!
